Catarina Martins

Catarina Martins is a Biologist (University of Oporto, 2001) with a PhD in Immunology (NOVA Medical School, 2015). Currently, she is Assistant Professor of Immunology at NOVA Medical School (NMS) – Lisbon, Portugal. Over the last 15 years she has taught several classes and training courses to pre and postgraduate students, addressing Immunology, but also concepts of Flow Cytometry, Biosafety and Quality Assurance.  

Since 2008, Catarina manages the NMS Primary Immunodeficiency and Immunology Lab (Technical Manager), addressing both diagnostic purposes and research projects, using diverse immunoassays and Flow Cytometry applications to study immune responses. 

Catarina Martins is also the Coordinator of the NMS Biosafety Committee and member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty. In 2017, Catarina was elected vowel of the Iberian Cytometry Society, with activities related to the Accreditation working group, and she is a volunteer in the ISAC SRL Outreach Task Force. Finally, Catarina collaborates with National Accreditation Bodies of Portugal (IPAC) and Ireland (INAB) as technical and lead assessor of medical laboratories for standards ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189.
