
Òscar Fornas is a biologist and PhD in Biochemistry by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) in 1997. Specializing in Flow Cytometry since 1992. Since 2001 is the Head of the Flow Cytometry Unit at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), located at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park in Barcelona, where he leads one of the most advanced Flow Cytometry Units in Europe.
With more than 30 years of experience, he has developed pioneering applications in advanced flow cytometry, including flow karyotyping for chromosome isolation and sequencing, single-virus sorting for single-virus genomics, and new methodologies for the study of extracellular vesicles. His work has contributed to high-impact publications in journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Communications, Cell Reports, Genome Research, and Communications Biology.
